Alappuzha: The district administration has enforced a ban on the use of plastic plates and glasses that have become a reason for pollution in and around the civil station here. Inaugurating the clean-up drive organised on the Civil Station premises, District Collector R Girija said that no political party , government servant should conduct parties extensively.
They District Collector said that various department heads in the civil station would be deployed to check the use plastic glasses and pates for tea parties on the Civil Station premises. “When food packets are distributed in the offices it must be ensured that no plastic bottles covers and glasses are used. Catering service firms must steel glasses and crockery sets instead of plastic glasses and plates. We have a habit of throwing out plastic waters carelessly in the office surroundings. To put an end to this waste bins and camera surveillance will be arranged on the office premises the District Collector said .
