Alappuzha: the all Kerala house boat owners associations (AKHBOA) has asked the state government and political parties to exempt the tourism sector from hartal. Association general secretary NSreekumar said that the association would submit a memorandum to all political parties. Houseboats and other tourism related in durriessustain huge losses in revenue due to hartals called by political parties which has an adverse impact on economy. Frequent hartals would affect tourist turnout and jeopardies the industry, causing a grievous effect on all related sectors of economy, he said.
The Assoation also asked the government and political parties to eatable night time tourism spots In Alappuzha SAI, Muhamma, Aaryad, Chithira, Kainakari And Onnamkara. Eatablishing Shopping malls in these areas to draw more tourists, reducting the interference of brokers in the tourism sector, setting up a water theme park at kuttanda with the help of public- private participation, contructing a waste treatment facility to avoid canals getting polluter, appointing police with multiligual ability round-the-clock and implementing innovative projects like sea plane are some of the demands put forth by the associations, Sreekumar said. He said that the associations was willing to cooperate with the government and political parties to set up these facilities.
