Mercedes hit-and-run case: Accused sent to two-day police custody

The accused juvenile in the Mercedes hit-and-run case was on Monday sent to two-day police custody after his bail plea was rejected yesterday by the court.
The father of the accused juvenile was, however, released on a personal bail bond of Rs one lakh. The juvenile was earlier apprehended and handed over to the Juvenile Justice Officer and was kept at a juvenile home for a day before being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. The incident took place on April 4 when the victim, Sidharth Sharma, was crossing the road near Ludlow Castle School in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area when a Mercedes hit him. The Delhi Police on Sunday slapped graver charges – culpable homicide – on the juvenile driver after learning that he was a repeated offender and arrested his father for abetting the crime. A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence has been registered at the Civil Lines Police Station.
