Growing ganja on terrace lands man in police net

Thiruvanthapuram: Pettah police arrested a man for growing ganja in a pot on terrace. The accused has been identified as Nissar (31) of Anyara. Three marijuana plants in a pot were in flowering stage. The pot was kept hidden among other plants. The leaves could be plucked at his stage and dried for sale said the police. During the police raid an airgun and a country bomb were also seized from the house. Nissar was home when the police arrived. “He said he got the gun from another person. A detailed probe will be possible only after securing his custody from the court,” said Pettah circle inspector Bindu Sreedhar. Nissar a history sheeter, was accused in several criminal cases including armed robbery on a migrant labourer and assaulting sub-inspector. The police have booked him under relevant sections of NDPS Act, Arms Act and Explosives Act. He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
