Kozhikode: The first mega congregation of Dinkoism held here on Sunday demanded the government to officially recognize it as a religion and grant it minority status.
The over 500 people who thronged the sports hall at Mananchira welcomed the incessant jabs made at the established religions with thunderous applause.
The followers of the parody religion, built around Dinkan the comic superhero mouse which first appeared in 1983 in the now defunct Malayalam children’s magazine Balamangalam, vowed to fight against illegal quarrying which is destroying the Pankila forest the abode of Lord Dinkan. The movement has garnered much popularity in the social media for their cyber trolls against undesired practices among established religions.
Dinkoist leaders dressed in Dinkan T-shirts performed various rituals. In a freewheeling question and answer session they enunciated the principles of the religion.
