Kochi: Opening the doors of the party to like-minded individual and outfits, the BJP core committee has entrusted party state chief Kummanam Rajasekharan to take a final call on bringing back former leaders, prior to the Upcoming Assembly polls. However, it is learnt that the faction led by V Muraleedharan, former state president, has raised protest over the decision in the meet. Later, briefing media persons. Kummanam said if former leaders K Raman Pillai and P P Mukundan express a wish to come back, it would be Considered. He added that party’s doors would remain open and the expansion of NDA was one among the top priorities of the party agenda.
The meeting of core committee and state and district functionaries of the party, held at Nedumbassery on Sunday constituted a 16-member state election committee. Since an agreement has been reached upon the constituencies in which top leaders are contesting, the first list of candidates will be issued by the end of the month. However, a final decision on this would be taken only after the central committee meet on February 18. Kumjnanam said, booth- level election committees will be constituted by February 20.The party would release its Political policy document within one week. All the committees will come into existence by March i8 and a door-to door campaign will be conducted by the party workers across the state from March 6 to 13.
The core committee members and state functionaries who are in charge of the districts concerned would submit the names of probable candidates. The central committee will screen the names and a final list will be published,” said Kummanam. Meanwhile, a resolution passed by the meeting pointed out that the circumstances for the emergence third political front, as mooted by BJP, has been prevailing in the state.
